Indigenous Public Services

Description: Xwi7xwa Library is seeking an iSchool graduate student to provide reference and information services, as well as lead projects and program development relating to First Nations/Aboriginal topics and Indigenous scholarship. See here for entire job description.

 

Cataloguing Assistant

Available positions: 2

Description: Xwi7wa Library is seeking iSchool graduate students to undertake cataloguing, collection management, and acquisitions activities and projects relating to the development, organization and description of our Indigenous print, audio/visual, and digital collections.  See here for entire job description

 

Indigitization Program

Available positions: 1

Description: The Indigitization Assistant will be responsible for coordinating the communications for the program remotely. Website work will involve the careful curation of existing video media, photos, and written copy content into community-friendly digital bites that elicit engagement from former, current and prospective B.C. Indigenous community participants. They will be asked to coordinate, solicit team member content, and contribute original content for Indigitization blog. Communication and promotion includes live tweeting, photography, and logistical support as part of the orientation to the program’s values and community engagement core mandate. It is important that the student be culturally sensitive and aware of communications for Indigenous audiences (we will provide training using resources such as: Indigenous Peoples: Languages Guidelines). Archives Curation & Digitization Assistant 

Available positions: 1

Description: Xwi7wa is actively planning for the celebration of the branches 30th anniversary and is looking to archive and digitize materials dedicated to the history of the branch. The scope of this collection includes archival materials, photographs, and realia from the First Nations House of Learning and X̱wi7x̱wa Library. These materials are currently being digitized and will be part of a larger curatorial exhibit.
