November 1 – Musqueam Day
November 1 is Musqueam Day! This important community holiday celebrates the day Musqueam won their court case in the Supreme Court of Canada in 1984. Moving forward the Guerin decision affirmed the Crown’s responsibility to recognize Aboriginal title, affirmed Canada’s fiduciary obligation to act in the best interest of Indigenous Peoples, and that Canada has a legal duty to consult.
